The Power of One Post: How Social Media Drives Impact
As I travel the world, I hear the same question again and again: How do I create more impact?
Or, to be honest, sometimes the real question is, How do I gain more followers? It’s just that most people feel uncomfortable saying it out loud. But here’s the thing—whichever one resonates with you is valid. There’s no right or wrong here. It’s your life, your goals, and your desires. The real question is: Why do you want it? What’s driving you toward this? Understanding that ‘why’ is what gives your goals true meaning and keeps you moving forward.
It’s a question that resonates with both creators and businesses. In today’s landscape, social media is the driving force behind almost every trend, innovation, and opportunity. It’s where demand is born, where creators find their voice, and where businesses connect with their audience.
And if you don’t believe that’s true, it’s probably because you’re fighting the force—resisting the idea that this is the new, modern landscape we all operate in. The sooner you embrace it, the more opportunities open up.
I’ve been in this space since 2012, and let me tell you, it doesn’t get easier. But you do get better. You evolve, you adapt, and before you know it, social media becomes your best friend and your most valuable business tool.
One thing I hear a lot is how people feel the algorithm is against them. But is it really? Or is that frustration rooted in the fact that we haven’t quite figured it out yet?
I recently watched a video by Prince EA, where he said something that really stuck with me: Think of the algorithm as your best friend. The better you feed it, the more it helps you. This mindset shift is key. The algorithm isn’t something to beat or outsmart—it’s a tool, just like any other, and the more you understand it, the more it works in your favor.
That’s why I say, sometimes you only need one post. One big post to give you the confidence to keep going. To prove that results are possible. When you hit that one post, you realize that it’s not magic or luck—it’s a process. It’s trial and error, it’s learning what works specifically for you, and it’s showing up consistently.
Most creators give up too soon, leaving their burning desires trapped in their minds. But if you stick with it, if you keep creating, the results will come. Social media is the engine that powers the creator economy, but the real challenge is discovering what works for you. And you’ll never figure that out unless you experiment—and more importantly, ask yourself what truly matters to you.
Burnout doesn’t happen because you’re doing too much. It happens when you’re doing too much of what you don’t want to do anymore. That’s the truth. When you align your content with your passions, the process becomes sustainable and fulfilling.
Social media is the answer to so many of the questions I hear all the time: ‘I want more clients,’ ‘I want to be an educator,’ ‘I want to build a community,’ ‘I want higher-paying clients,’ ‘I want brand deals.’ I want celebrity clients. I want to travel. I want to move to a bigger city, but I don’t want to start from zero. I want to create my own schedule.
And with all of that… you absolutely can. Social media gives you the power to create your own reality, break boundaries, and build the life you’ve always envisioned—one post at a time.
Whether you want to fill a classroom with eager learners, land top-tier clients, or secure those coveted brand deals, the answer is always the same: build your social presence. Without an audience, who’s going to show up to your class? Without visibility, how will clients find and trust you? Social media isn’t just a tool—it’s the foundation for all of these goals. It’s where your audience, your influence, and your opportunities come to life.
And it doesn’t just magically appear, because if it were easy, everyone would do it. Instead, it’s a space for creators to dig deeper, to define a set of evolving priorities that not only fulfill us but also resonate with the people we reach. Creating impact is often a side effect of working on ourselves. It doesn’t happen just because we really want it; it happens because we’ve found a way to live a life aligned with our purpose. That alignment is what truly empowers others—through our stories, our journeys, and our authenticity.
When we witness those before us overcoming obstacles, we recognize a part of ourselves in their stories. That’s where the real impact lies—sparking the belief that if they could do it, as regular people just like us, then we can achieve our own version of success too.
You can stay a cog in the wheel, or you can take the leap, create, and pave your own way.
One thing that becomes clear as you embark on this social media journey is that it’s as much about self-discovery as it is about success. Beyond the numbers, the brand deals, and the followers, there’s a deeper challenge at play—the challenge of learning about yourself.
Let’s be honest: the mental hurdles in today’s online climate are real. You’re constantly taking the good with the bad. It’s the ultimate balancing act. I’ve been in the barbershop world for years, and that space built my thick skin. Now, navigating this big social world demands the same resilience. Not everyone is going to like what you say, what you post, or even the techniques you use. Some people will disagree simply for the sake of it, whether it resonates with them or not.
But here’s the thing: I’ve learned to keep creating anyway. I create the way I want to, the way that matters to me.
No matter where you are—online or offline—mental challenges are inevitable. But weirdly enough, social media has become a portal for connecting with perspectives beyond my own. Sure, I face criticism, but it’s also challenged me to see things differently, to get inspired, and even to find joy in the struggles and successes of others. It’s made me more grateful.
The truth is, you can learn so much from simply being on here. Social media doesn’t have to melt your mind; it just requires awareness of what you’re using it for. It’s a tool, and arguably the greatest one available today, driving both individual and business growth. Think about it: the same device you carry in your pocket has the power to shape the world, to create massive impact. Harnessing its potential means learning, growing, and thriving—not just as a creator, but as someone who can handle whatever the world throws at them. How we handle one thing is how we do everything.
So, if you’ve been hesitating or feeling frustrated, it’s time to change your mindset. Stop seeing social media as an obstacle and start seeing it as the gateway to everything you want. The opportunity is there, but you have to show up, take control, and go after it. One post could change everything—why not make it yours?
Seriously, do it.
